Question:-Find the displacement of a particle if it's possition vector changes from r1 =2i+3j+5k to r2=4i+5j+2k?

Also, find the distance travelled by the particle Along x,y,z axes respectively.All the distances are in metre...

Solution:-Displacement in terms of vector

displacement=r2-r1=4i+5j+2k-2i-3j-5k

=>2i+2j-3k

this will be the required displacement,in terms of vector

Now,let us find displacement in terms of magnitude..

|r1|=(4+9+25)^1/2=√38

|r2|=(16+25+4)^1/2=√45

r2-r1=√45-√38

r2-r1=(3√5-√38)

this will be the required displacement in terms of magnitude....

distance travelled by x=4-2=2

distance travelled by y=5-3=2

distance travelled by z=5-2=3

{hope it helps you}
