GIVEN:

  • (-1) IS THE ZERO OF THE

POLYNOMIAL ax^3-x^2+x+4

SOLUTION:

 = > ax {}^{3} - x {}^{2} + x + 4 = 0 \\ \\ = > a( - 1) {}^{3} - ( - 1) {}^{2} + ( - 1) + 4 =0 \\ \\ = > - a - 1 - 1 + 4 = 0 \\ \\ = > - a + 2 = 0 = > a = 2

SINCE IT IS THE ZERO OF THE POLYNOMIAL THE VALUE IN THAT POLYNOMIAL WILL BE EQUAL TO ZERO
