Hey
Here is your answer,
Let the number of swans = x2
Then, number of swans playing at the bank shore = (7/2)√x2 = 7x/2
Again given, 2 swans are playing in the water.
So, total number of swans = number of swans playing at the bank shore + number of swans playing in the water
=> x2 = 7x/2 + 2
=> x2 = (7x + 4)/2
=> 2x2 = 7x + 4
=> 2x2 - 7x - 4 = 0
=> (x - 4)*(2x + 1) = 0
=> x = 4, -1/2
Since x = -1/2 is not possible,
So, x = 4
Hense, the number of swans = x2 = 42 = 16
Hope it helps you!
