Answer:

Metals :-

1) Metals react with oxygen to form metal oxides. examples :-

magnesium + oxygen → magnesium oxide.

iron + oxygen → iron oxide.

copper + oxygen → copper oxide.

2) Metals react with water to form metal hydroxides.

examples :-Sodium + water → sodium hydroxide + hydrogen.

3) When an acid reacts with metal, a salt and hydrogen are produced.

example:-nitric acid + calcium → calcium nitrate + hydrogen

4) Metals react with bases to form salt and hydrogen gas.

example:-sodium hydroxide reacts with zinc and water to form sodium zincate and hydrogen gas. Zn(s)+2NaOH(aq)+2H2O(l)→Na2Zn(OH)4(aq)+H2(g)

Non-metals :-

1) Non- metals react with oxygen to form Non- metal oxides.

examples:-reactions of carbon and sulfur with oxygen

2) No reaction

3) No reaction.

4)bases react with bases to form salt.
