Answer:

a) Just as gases are compressible, they are also expandable. Diffusion causes them to expand to take the shape of any container in which they are placed, filling the container's volume. Gases have no definite shape or volume. ... They exert pressure, or force per unit area, on the interior surface of their container.

b)  The granulated Zn is preferred to metallic Zn in the preparation of hydrogen because granulated zinc has more surface area exposed to the acid, so the reaction can occur more rapidly.

c) Metals forms positive ions. Metals form positive ions because metals are very electropositive, and their outer electrons are very loosely bunded on them. so, that they lose electrons and gain a positive charge and hence from positive ions.

d) The fact that their outer shells are full means they don't need to react with other elements. In fact, they rarely combine with other elements. That non-reactivity is why they are called inert.

e) Electrovalent compounds conduct electricity only in their molten state and in their aqueous solutions. In a solid electrovalent compound the ions are held together in fixed positions and they are not able to move freely and hence cannot conduct electricity.
