x^2 + 2xk + k^2 -k +2 = 0

let the 1st factor be (x+1)

x = -1

-1^2 -2k +k^2 -k +2 = 0

1 -3k +k^2 +2 =0

3 -3k +k^2 = 0

-3k +k^2 = -3

k (-3 +k) = -3

(-3 +k) = 3/k

-3 = 3/k -k

-3 = 3k -k/k

-3 = 2k/k

-3k = 2k

k= -1
