ans

a) a= v/t

= 40/2

= 20

f= ma= 5×20

= 100

b) f= ma

=5 × -20

= -100( retardation )

Explanation:

Given, Mass= 5kg

From 0to A ,

Acceleration = (final velocity - initial velocity) / time taken

= (40-0) / 2

= 40/2

= 20m/s^2 ------------------------ eq 1

therefore, from 0 to A ,

force= Mass × acceleration

force= 5 × 20 (from eq 1)

therefore,

Force = 100 N

Similarly,,

acceleration from B to C = (final velocity - initial velocity) / time taken

= (0-40) / 4

= -40 / 4

= -10 m/s^2 ----------------------- eq2

therefore, from B to C,

Force = Mass × acceleration

Force = 5 × -10

Force = -50 N

Hope this is helpful
