$\bullet$ Manures and fertilizers

• Manures are organic substances formed by the action or microorganisms on them. Whereas, fertilizers are inorganic substances made from chemicals in the factories.

• Excessive use of manures don't cause harm to the soil. Whereas, excessive use of fertilizers may damage the chemical composition of the soil and can cause pollution.

• Fertilizer is nutrient specific, it has almost a balance of all plant nutrients. Whereas, manure isn't nutrient specific ,it hasn't a balance of all plant nutrients.

$\bullet$ Manual and mechanical means of sowing

Manual means of sowing :

→ There are two different ways in which sowing is done manually : Broadcasting and Dribbling. In broadcasting , farmers usually sow the seeds by using hand and in the dribbling , farmers make some holes in the field and then put the seeds into it and cover the soil.

Mechanical means of sowing :

→ Mechanical method of sowing includes sowing of seed using machine called seed drill. Seed drill is a machine or device used to sow the seeds at the correct depth and distance.

$\bullet$ Kharif and rabi crops

→ Kharif crops are the crops sown in the monsoon season starting from the month of June and harvesting around October.

Examples : Paddy, cotton, jute etc.

→ Rabi crops are the are the crops sown in the winter season starting from the month of April and harvesting around July.

Examples : Wheat, gram , peas etc.

→ Threshing is the process of separating of grains from the matured crops. Threshing is done by combine and thresher.

→ Winnowing is the process of separating chaff from the grains. Winnowing is done manually.
