ReAsOn :

bond \: order =  \frac{nb - na}{2}

So oxygen having 8 electron

Electronic configuration of O2 =16

 \frac{ |nb - na| }{2}

 \frac{ |6 - 10| }{2}  = 2

Carbon having 6 electron

C2 =12 electron

bond \: order  = \frac{ |4 - 8| }{2}  = 2

Bond order of O2 = Bond order of C2

2 = 2

Just write the how much sigma and pie bond in both the elements.
