Given:

A figure showing the weight of cat + rat = 10kg, rat + dog = 20kg, and cat + dog = 20kg.

To Find:

The weight of cat + rat + dog is?

Solution:

1. Let the cat be denoted as c, the rat is denoted as r, and the dog is denoted as d.

2. The given data can be represented with the help of equations,

  • c + r = 10, (Consider as equation 1)
  • r + d = 20, (Consider as equation 2)
  • c + d = 20. (Consider as equation 3).

3. Add all the three equations together,

=> c + r + r + d + c + d = 50,

=> 2c + 2r + 2d = 50,

=> 2( c + r + d ) = 50.

=> c + r + d = 50/2,

=> c + r + d = 25.

4. The total weight is 25kg.

Therefore, the total weight of the cat, the rat, and the dog together is 25kg.
