Answer - 23 :

Law of constant proportions : The ratio of the masses of elements in any compound is constant regardless of its preparation i.e., a given compound always contains exactly the same proportion of elements by weight. It is sometimes also referred to as law of definite composition.

➤ In first experiment,

4.90g of Cu oxide → 3.92g of Cu.

∴ Mass of copper oxide = 4.90g

∴ Mass of copper = 3.92g

∴ Mass of oxygen = 4.90-3.92 = 0.98g

Ratio of masses of Cu and O

  • 3.92/0.98 = 4 : 1

➤ In second experiment,

4.55g of Cu oxide → 3.64g of Cu.

∴ Mass of copper oxide = 4.55g

∴ Mass of copper = 3.64g

∴ Mass of oxygen = 4.55-3.64 = 0.91g

Ratio of masses of Cu and O

  • 3.64/0.91 = 4 : 1

➠ The same ratio confirms that these experiments clarify Law of constant proportions.

Answer - 24 :

Depending on size of particles, solution are divided into three classes :

  • True solution : In true solution size of particles is less than 1nm.
  • Suspension : In suspension size of particles is greater than 1000nm.
  • Colloidal solution : In colloidal solution size of particles lies from 1nm to 1000nm. It consists two phase i.e., dispersed phase and dispersion medium.
