Option B .i.e. 1.2×10^9

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

3kg of sugar contains 9×10^8 crystals.

To find:-

How many sugar crystals are there in 4kg of

sugar?

Solution:-

Given that

Amount of crystals contained in 3 kg of sugar

= 9×10^8

To get the required answer first we have to find

the amount of crystals contained in 1 kg of sugar

and then we have to find the required amount of

crystals.

This method is called Unitary method

Amount of crystals contained in 1 kg of sugar

=(9×10^8)/3

=>3×10^8

Amount of crystals contained in 1 kg of sugar =

3×10^8

Now,

Amount of crystals contained in 4 kg of sugar

=( 3×10^8) × 4

=>(3×4×10^8)

=>12×10^8

On dividing and multiplying by 10 then

=>(12/10)×10^8×10

=>1.2×10^(8+1)

=>1.2×10^9

since a^m×a^n = a^(m+n)

Answer:-

There are 1.2×10^9 crystals in 4kg of sugar .

Used method:-

  • Unitary method

  • a^m×a^n = a^(m+n)
