Answer:

Answer is 6200meters

Step-by-step explanation:

Take below sea level distance as 1200=a

Take above sea level distance as 5000= b

a+b = 1200+5000= 6200meters..

Question :

A plane is flying at the height of 5000 m above the sea level. At a particular point, it is exactly above the submarine floating 1200 m below the sea level. What is the Vertical distance between them

\rule{150}{0.5}

Answer :

Let the vertical Distance between plane and submarine be x m.

So, as per the attached diagram

If we will add the distance of plane above sea level, and the distance of submarine will be equal to total vertical distance .

⇒Total Distance = Distance of Submarine + Distance of Plane

⇒ x = 5000 + 1200

⇒ x = 6200

⇒ Total Distance = 6200 m or 6.2 km

\therefore Vertical Distance between plane and submarine is 6200 m
