Rasipuram krishnaswami Iyer Narayanaswami was born on 10 october,1906 in Madras ,India. He lived in an effluent family in Madras .His father was a school head master and his grandmother was a voracious leader who influenced many lives.He has completed his bachelor's degree in English from Maharaja's College of Mysore.He started his career as a school teacher .He wrote many stories for newspapers.His first novel was one of his famous novels of all time.'Swami and Friends' which was published in the year 1930.It was the best novel in English written by an Indian author. He use simple language and natural element of humor ..He is also famous for his other works like:The Dark Room,The English Teacher,The Bachelor of Arts,The Guide and many more..His famous creation 'The Guide' was also made into a movie. He founded the Indian Thought Publications in 1942.Because of his great works he received many awards like Sahitya Akademi Award for the Guide in the year 1958, Padma Bhushan in 1964 and Padma Vibhushan in 2001..But unfortunately died on 13 may,2001 in Chennai at the age of 94....
