Given,

The 50 gf weight has been placed on one extreme side of the ruler and has a perpendicular distance of 50 cm from the mid-point,

By Principle of Moments,

Sum of Clockwise Moments = Sum of Anti-Clockwise Moments

= (50*50) = (100*d)

= 2500 = 100d

= 25 cm = d

The 100 gf weight must be placed at 25 cm from the mid-point of the metre rule.
