Q1. Divide 34 into two parts, such that 4/7 of one part = 2/5 of the other

let one part be x and then other part=(34-x) => we get 4/7(x)=2/5(34-x) => 20(34-x)=14x=> 680=20x +14x=34x => x=680/34=20. So the numbers are 14 and 20 respectively.
