Jesse Owens had won the Olympic gold medal in the Olympic Games being held in Berlin. However, to him, his greatest prize he won from the event was the golden bond of friendship which he formed with Luz Long. Luz Long stood beside Jesse Owens in his tough times as a companion and selflessly helped him qualify. Without Luz Long, Jesse Owens would not have won the Olympic gold medal. To him, all the gold medals and cups he won were not worthy of even being a plating on the golden bond of friendship he formed with Luz Long. For him, his friendship with Luz Long was greater than him winning the Olympic gold.
