40 volt is the required answer.

GIVEN:

  • Charge, q = 2.5 C
  • Work done, w = 25 J
  • Electric potential at point B, v = 30 volt

TO FIND:

Electric potential at point A be V

FORMULA:

Potential difference = w/q

Potential difference = Potential at A - Potential at B

V - v = w/q

SOLUTION:

V - v = \dfrac{w}{q} \\ \\ \implies V - 30 = \dfrac{25}{2.5} \\ \\ \implies V - 30 = \dfrac{25 \times 10}{2.5 \times 10} \\ \\\implies V - 30 = \dfrac{250}{25} \\ \\ \implies V - 30 = 10 \\ \\\implies V = 10 + 30 \\ \\ \implies V = 40 \: volt

ANSWER:

Electric potential at point A is 40 volt.

Electric potential difference:

  • The electric potential difference between two points is defined as the amount of work done in bringing a charge from one point to another point.

  • The electric potential at a point is defined as the amount of work done in bringing a charge from infinity to that point.
