Please anyone help, tomorrow is my maths exam:

= (-32) - (-40)=8. (the answer is in positive)

=(-82)-(-40)=-42. (the answer is in negative)

I Need to know that why is the there a positive 8 and why it came a negative -42 , when the signs in both are same?
