generally the effort arm of levers of class 1 is longer than the load arm and therefore the mechanical advantage of class 1 levers is greater than 1 if the effort arm is equal to the load on the mechanical advantage is equal to one but if the effort am a shorter than the load arm its mechanical advantage is less than one thus the mechanical advantage of levers of class one can be greater than 1 equal or one or less than 1
