An equal set is a set with the exact same members and number of members as another given set i.e:

A = {1, 2, 3, 4}

B = {2, 4, 3, 1}

Therefore, A and B are equal.

An equivalent set is a set that has the same number of members as another given set, but not the same members i.e

A = {1, 2, 3, 4}

B = {5, 6, 7, 8}

Therefore A and B are equivalent.
