Answer :

Solutions:-

1) A= { x/x €N ,x is an even }

=> A={ 2,4,6,8,...}

=> It is an infinite set

2)B = {x:x is a composite and x€N}

=> B ={4,6,8,9,10,12,...}

=> It is an infinite set

3)C ={x/x €W ,3x-2=0}

We have,

3x-2 = 0

=> 3x = 2

=> x = 2/3

=> x is rational number

But given that x is a whole number

So there is no element in C

=> C = { }

=> It is an empty set

Used formulae:-

  • Set of natural numbers are denoted by N

  • N ={1,2,3,..}

  • Set of whole numbers are denoted by W.

  • W ={0,1,2,3...}

  • The numbers having more than 2 factors are called composite numbers.

  • The least composite number = 4

  • The multiples of 2 are even numbers .

  • The numbers leaves the remainder is 0 when they are divided by 2 are called Even Numbers.

  • The set having no elements in it is called an empty set.

  • A set having infinite (countless) elements in it is called an infinite set
