Answer:

a = 2, b=-9, c=7

Step-by-step explanation:

The graph cuts the x-axis at the points (1,0) and (\frac{49}{4},0)

⇒ These are the roots of the given equation y = a\cdot x+b\cdot \sqrt{x} +c

This means that for x=1 the value of y will be 0

0 = a+b+c  ------------ (1)

Similarly,

0 = a\cdot \frac{49}{4} + b\cdot \sqrt{\frac{49}{4}} +c

0 = a\cdot \frac{49}{4} + b\cdot \frac{7}{2} +c   -------------- (2)

Also given that the graph meets the y-axis at (0,7)

so, 7 = a\cdot 0+b\cdot 0 +c

or, c = 7

Now, on solving equation (1) and equation (2) we get,

a = 2,b=-9

Given :  y = ax + b√x  + c

Graph crosses  x axis at ( 1 , 0)  and (49/4 , 0)

Meets y axis at  (0, 7)

To Find : Values of a , b and c

Solution:

y = ax + b√x  + c

Meets y axis at  (0, 7)

=> 7 = 0 + 0 + c

=> c = 7

y = ax + b√x  + 7

Graph crosses  x axis at ( 1 , 0)  and (49/4 , 0)

=> 0 = a(1)  + b√1  + 7

=>  a + b = - 7

   0 = a (49/4) + b√(49/4)  + 7

=> 49a/4  + 7b/2  = - 7

=> 7a/4 + b/2 = - 1

=> 7a  + 2b  = - 4

7a  + 2b  = - 4

a + b = - 7 =>2 a + 2b = - 14

=>5a = 10

=> a = 2

b =  -9

a = 2 , b =-9  and c = 7  is solution
