1. The Hindu Succession (Amendment) Act, 2005 (39 of 2005) was enacted to remove gender discriminatory provisions in the Hindu Succession Act, 1956. Under the Amendment, the daughter of a coparcener in her own right in the same manner as the sun.

2. Under the new law, women also get a right on their ancestors' property. This gives empowerment to the women. Under the new law sons, daughters and their mothers can get an equal share in the land. Now, if women has a problem, women can always depend on their share of land or property.
