Step-by-step explanation:

ANSWER:-

 \dfrac{x - 3}{5}  - 2 =  - 1

Taking LCM

 \dfrac{x - 3 - 10}{5}  =  - 1

 \dfrac{x - 13}{5}  =  - 1

x - 13 =  - 1  \times 5

x - 13 =  - 5

x =  - 5 + 13

x = 8

is the answer.

Things to Note:-

  • A negative number turns positive when it goes towards either side of equal to sign

  • A multiplication containing number becomes Division on either side of equal to sign

  • Cross multiplication is used to simplify.

  • Also, Take LCM first to cross multiply.

Step-by-step explanation:

(( x-3) / 5) - 2 = -1

equate the denominators

(x-3)/5 - 10/5 = -1

(x-13)/5 = -1

x-13 = -1*5

x = -5 + 13

x = 8

answer 8
