Question : -

sin 2A = 2 sin A is true when A =

  • (A) 0°
  • (B) 30°
  • (C) 45°

ANSWER

Given : -

sin 2A = 2 sin A

Required to find : -

  • Value of A for which the above equation is true ?

Solution : -

Given that;

sin 2A = 2 sin A

we know that;

sin 2A , 2A is a double angle !

So, we need to derive the formula for sin 2A.

Now,

sin 2A = sin (A+A)

Since,

  • sin (x+y) = sin x cos y + cos x sin y

sin 2A = sin A cos A + cos A sin A

sin 2A = sin A*cos A + sin A*cos A

sin 2A = 2 sin A*cos A

Substituting this in the above one !

2 sin A*cos A = 2 sin A

cos A = (2 sin A)/(2 sin A)

cos A = 1

since,

  • cos 0° = 1

cos A = cos 0°

Eliminating cos on both sides

A = 0°

Hence, option - A is correct ✓
