India is a land of a multitude of cultures and religions. Hence, there is atleast one festive event every month. My favourite festival is Holi which is generally celebrated in the month of March but the date changes as it is based on the lunar calendar.

Holi is also known as the festival of colours. On this day, we play with colours and water. There will also be dishes like malpura, Apple kheer, Dal kachori, Thandai etc. We visit our relatives and friends to greet them.

The reason we celebrate holi is because of the death of Holika [Holika was a demoness in who was burnt to death with the help of God Vishnu] .

Everyone wears new cloths as it is a tradition. Later in the day, they start playing with water and colours. It is a enjoyable day for all the children. They have lots of fun playing with the water and no one minds getting wet or getting colours applied on them.

While grown ups don't usually partake in these activities, they enjoy seeing their children play. The best part of this day is the food prepared at home. Just thinking about them makes children's mouth water.

I have edited the essay. Please read it and gain some insights for the next time. Hope it helps :)
