the diagram has a burner a spatula with sulphur powder

when the spatula is heated the sulphur powder burns in presence of air to produce a gas called sulphur di oxide

(SO2) this gas is highly soluble on water and forms sulphuric acid with it
H2O + SO2 ==== H2SO4
