- when an ester us treated with NaOH it forms the alcohol back and carboxylic acid salt of Na which is used for making soaps. This is saponification.
- a) propanal b) propanoic acid c)propanol
- treating alcohol with carboxylic acid results in the formation of a sweet smelling ester and water.
