Let f( x ) = 2x³ + mx² + 3x - 5 ,
g ( x ) = x³ + x² - 4x + m
If ( x - 2 ) divides f ( x ) and g( x ) gives same
remainder , then
f( 2 ) = g ( 2 )
2 ( 2³ ) + m × 2² + 3× 2 - 5 = 2³ + 2² - 4 × 2 + m
16 + 4m + 6 - 5 = 8 + 2 - 8 + m
4m + 17 = 2 + m
4m - m = 2 - 17
3m = - 15
m = ( -15 )/3
m = - 5
