Given:

  • Bindu invested rs 2500 for 3 years and rs 4000 for 2½ years at the same rate to intrest .

  • The total interest on the 2 invetments was rs 700

To Find:

  • The rate of interest on the investments

understanding the question:

Here, we have given the principal, times , simple interest for both the investments and we have been asked to find the rate of interest.So, we've to apply suitable formulae to find out the rate of interest.

Solution:

❍ Let the rate of interest for both the investments be X

 \\

{ \underline{ \frak{As \: we \: know \: that}}}

  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \star{ \underline{ \boxed{{ \mathfrak{simple \: intrest =  \frac{p \times t \times r}{100} }}}}}

 \\

Where,

  • P stands for principal
  • T stands for Time
  • R stands for Rate of interest

 \\

According to our condition,

{ \boxed{ \tt{total \: intrest} =  \frac{ p_{1} \times t_{1}  \times x}{100} +  \frac{p_{2} \times \: t_{2}  \times x}{100}  }}

 \\

Substituting the values we get,

 \longrightarrow \tt \: 700 =  \frac{25 \cancel{00} \times 3 \times x}{ \cancel{100}}  +  \frac{40 \cancel{00} \times 5 \times x}{1 \cancel{00} \times  2}  \\  \\  \\ \longrightarrow \tt 700 =  \frac{25 \times 3 \times x}{1}  +  \frac{ \cancel{40} \times 5 \times x}{ \cancel2}  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \\  \\  \\  \\ \longrightarrow \tt 700 = 25 \times 3 \times x + 20 \times 5 \times x \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \\  \\  \\ \longrightarrow \tt 700 = 75 \times x + 100 \times x \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \\  \\  \\ \longrightarrow \tt 700 = 75x + 100x \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \\  \\  \\ \longrightarrow \tt 700 = 175x \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \\  \\  \\ \longrightarrow \tt x =  \frac{700}{175}  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \\  \\  \\\longrightarrow{ \boxed{ \tt  {x = 4\%}}} \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:

 \\

Hence,

  • The rate of interest is 4% per annum
