Hi!

Since the length and breadth of the park are in the ratio 2:1, let the breadth be a and the length be 2a.

Perimeter of the park = 2 (a + 2a) = 2 × 3a = 6a

According to question

 6a = 240 m

a = 240/6 m = 40 m

So, breadth = 40 m and length = 2 × 40 m = 80 m

Area of the park = 80 × 40 m2 = 3200 m2

Since the path of wide 2 m runs around the boundary inside the park, length and breadth of the park excluding the path get decreased by 4 m (= 2 m + 2 m)

Length of the park excluding the path = (80 – 4) m = 76 m

Breadth of the park excluding the path = (40 – 4) m = 36 m

Area of the park excluding the path = 76 × 36 m2 = 2736 m2

Thus, area of the path = Area of the park – Area of the park excluding the path

= (3200 – 2736) m2 = 464 m2

The cost of constructing the path can be found the multiplying the area of the path with the given rate.

Cheers!

Let the length and breath be 2x and x

Perimeter=2(l+b)

2(x+2x)=240

6x=240

x=240/6=40

l=40*2=80

b=40
