Answer:

  • If 6x + 5 = 2x + 17 then x = 3.
  • If \frac{x}{2} +\frac{3}{2} =\frac{2x}{5} -1then x = -25.

Step-by-step explanation:

1) 6x + 5 = 2x + 17

6x - 2x = 17 - 5

(6-2)x = 12

4x = 12

x = 12/4

x = 3

So, if 6x + 5 = 2x + 17 then x = 3

2)

\frac{x}{2} +\frac{3}{2} =\frac{2x}{5} -1\\\frac{x+3}{2} =\frac{2x-5}{5}

By cross multiplication

5(x + 3) = 2(2x - 5)

5x + 15 = 4x - 10

5x - 4x = -10 - 15

x = -25

So, if \frac{x}{2} +\frac{3}{2} =\frac{2x}{5} -1then x = -25.

Question :-

  • x/2 + 3/2 = 2x/5 - 1

Concept :-

  • First, we will find the L.C.M of the LHS fraction and RHS fraction and add if possible.
  • Secondly, we will apply the cross multiplication method to find the value of x.
  • Thirdly, we will put the value of x in the LHS fraction and RHS fraction to check whether the LHS fraction is equal to the RHS fraction or not.

Solution :-

→ x/2 + 3/2 = 2x/5 - 1

As we can see in the LHS fraction, the denominators are same. So it will be little easy to add them.

x + 3/2 = 2x/5 - 1

In the RHS fraction, we will find the L.C.M of 2x/5 and 1.

→ x + 3/2 = 2x - 5/5

Now, we will apply the cross multiplication method to find the value of x.

→ 5 (x + 3) = 2 (2x - 5)

→ 5x + 15 = 4x - 10

→ 5x - 4x = -10 - 15

→ x = - 25

Verification :-

→ -25 + 3/2 = 2 × -25/5 - 1

→ -22/2 = -50/5 - 1

→ -11 = -10 - 1

→ -11 = -11

Therefore, the value of x is -25.
