a=1/7-4√3

multiplying by 7+4√3/7+4√3

we get

a=7+4√3/7^2-(4√3)^2

a=7+4√3/49-48

a=7+4√3

using identity {a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b)}

NOW

b=1/7+4√3

multiplying by 7-4√3/7-4√3

we get

b=7-4√3/49-48

b=7-4√3

now

a^2+b^2= (7+4√3)^2+(7-4√3)^2

=49+48+8√3+ 49+48-8√3

=49+49+48+48

=194
