Carbon monoxide is allowed to expand isothermally and reversibly from 10 m³ to 20 m³ at 300k and work obtained is 4.754 kJ. Calculate the number of moles of carbon monoxide.

w = 2.303 n RT log V2÷V1
-4754 = 2.303 × n × 8.314 × 300 × log 20/10
It gives n = 2.75 moles.
