First draw a number line and label -2,-1,0,1,2.

Now mark 0 as A.

And draw a perpendicular on A of 1 cm. And mark C on upside of perpendicular.

On right side of A draw 2 cm and mark it as B.

Now join B and C

Since by Pythagoras theorem, AC=√(AB) ²+(AC) ²

AC=√2²+1²

AC=√5

Now put one end of divider on B and measure BC as arc of circle with divider

Now place Pointer on 0 and mark it on left as well right side of number line.

The left side being -5 and right side being 5
