Explanation:

The author’s grandmother had over-strained herself and so, she became ill. The grandmother knew that all was not well and these were her last few moments. When her life was nearing the end, she did not want to talk to anyone, but only wanted to think of God and recite her prayers.  

She was reciting her prayers with her beads when she breathed her last. At this point of time, death bought with it a relief from the pain she was undergoing.
