Answer:

a barometer is a device used to measure atmospheric pressure. It consists of a long glass tube which is sealed at one end. first, it is filled with Mercury and then inverted gently into a through containing Mercury. the level of mercury in the tube falls and a vacuum is created. add sea level the atmospheric pressure pushes the mercury in the trough which is turn increase the level of mercury in the tube until the height of mercury in the tube balances the pressure of the atmosphere. if we take this barometer to the higher altitude, we will find that the level of mercury in the tube false. this happens because atmospheric pressure at higher altitude reduces. thus, it does not push the mercury in the trough quite that much. this results in the reduction of the level of the mercury in the tube.
