please explain difference between cis and trans isomers answer should be proper.

Hey mae.
In a cis isomer both functional groups are either up or down. ( actually makes no difference between up and down just how it is drawn)

In a trans isomer one functional group is up and the other is down.

Both of the isomers have exactly the same atoms joined up in exactly the same order. That means that the van der Waals dispersion forces betweenthe molecules will be identical in both cases. The difference between the two is that the cis isomer is a polar molecule whereas the trans isomer is non-polar.
