The definition of finite is something that has a limit that can't be exceeded. An example of finite is the number of people who can fit in an elevator at the same time.

The idea of something that has no end. In our world we don't have anything like it. So we imagine traveling on and on, trying hard to get there, but that is not actually infinity.

Verbs which have the past or the present form are called FINITE verbs. Verbs in any other form (infinitive, -ing, or -ed) are called NONFINITE verbs. This means that verbs with tense are finite, and verbs without tense are nonfinite.
