see the diagram.

The truck travels from A to B and then towards C from B at the same speed.

Looking at the vector diagram,  We have vector v (initial velocity) from O upwards.  Then the final velocity (magnitude v) towards west (left).  We need to find the change = the difference of final - initial.

So draw  vector (in red color) equal to - initial vector.

Now add the two vectors  v towards west and  -v southwards.  Since the magnitudes are equal, we gt the direction at 45 deg. South West.

magnitude = √(20² + 20²) = 20√2 m/s    as  the perpendicular vectors can be added using the Pythagoras theorem to get magnitude of the resultant.

kvnmurty: is that clear ? hope so
Anonymous: hey there is another way to solve this question
Anonymous: hey why South and west direction you choose??
Anonymous: oh !! Why you deleted his answer
Anonymous: Oye !!! Here someone need reply
kvnmurty: @sahillincon: for obtaining the change in velocity = final velocity - initial velocity.... So take opposite of initial velocity... add that to the final velocity using parallelogram law... This is easy...
kvnmurty: @sahillincon... there is another way ... triangular addition of vectors... if you can do that well, please follow that.... i drew this diagram so that you could understand...

Anonymous: dear I made a solid mistake here..... delete it
Anonymous: it says there is change in velocity means final velocity-initial velocity
Anonymous: final is -20i and initial is 20j
Anonymous: so it will be -20i-20j
Anonymous: √20²+20²
Anonymous: 20√2m/s
Anonymous: and since vector is in 3rd quadrant direction will be S-W
Anonymous: please apologies me dear
