The youth are easily influenced by their peers to participate in nefarious activities. Peer pressure is commoan among youth from all over the world. The youth often feel the urge to fit in or be cool. This is referred to as peer pressure. Peer pressure can either positive or negative. Positive peer pressure is good because it encourages one to change their behaviour in order to achieve a positive outcome. For example one can be influenced to start exercising or stop smoking by their peers. On the flip side, negative peer pressure leads on a slippery slope of destruction. Negative peer pressure lures the youth to form gangs and engage in various crimianl activities such as taking drugs, stealing, homosexuality, prostitution and murder. The youth should seek counselling if they feel that they are being unduly influneced by their friends.
