Please explain log properly and stepwise.. because i have no idea about it

log2 8 is three. here the base is 2 and the arugument is 8. it means that 2 has to be raised to the power 3 to get 8. <br /><br />there are many laws for logarithm. <br /><br />if exponent of x is logx y , where x is base and y is argument then it is equal to y. x and log base x in exponent gets cut.
log x +log y is equal to log xy if both have same bases.
similarly ,
log x - log y is equal to log x/y.
logx y exponent z ,where x is base , y is argument and z us power of y, is equal to zlogx y.
these are a few basic rules of solving logarithms. it's difficult to teach the entire concept like this. so if u still have troubles, refer to khanacademy.com. hope thus helps :-)
