According to the Aufbau Principle .
In the ground state of the atoms , the orbitals are filled in order of their increasing energies . In other words  , electrons first occupy the lowest -energy orbitals available to them and enter into higher energy orbitals only when the lower energy orbitals are filled .

1s² , 2s² , 2p⁶ , 3s² , 3p⁶ , 4s² , 3d¹⁰ , 4p⁶ , 5p⁶ , 6s² , 4f¹⁴ , 5d¹⁰ , 6p⁶ , 7s² , 5f¹⁴ , 6d¹⁰ , 7p⁶ ........

Ahoy !

the order of the increasing energies of the various orbitals can be calculated on the basis of ( n + l ) rule

In neutral isolated atom, the lower the value of ( n+ l) for an orbital , lower its energy . However , if the two different types of orbitals have the same value of the ( n+ l) , the orbital with lower value of n has lower value .

half and fully filled configuration is most stable and have less energy .

Example Zn

E.C = 1s²  2s²  2p⁶  3s²  3p⁶  4s²  3d⁴

now the less energy configuration = 1s²  2s²  2p⁶  3s²  3p⁶  4s¹  3d⁵

because half filled configuration have less energy and its more stable
