please explain me the concept of valency in group

Explanation:

Valency in nothing but group number that means all first group elements like Na, Li,Rb, etc... elements consists of there valency 1

But in d block and p block elements consists many valencies that it will changing according to there oxidation numbers ex mainly occurs 3 and4 valency
