In 1905, Albert Einstein determined that the laws of physics are the same for all non-accelerating observers, and that the speed of light in a vacuum was independent of the motion of all observers. This was the theory ofspecial relativity. ... One of its most famous aspects concerns objects moving at the speed of light. All motion is observed and measured with reference to a frame of reference. First we all thought there is an absolute frame of reference with respect which all motion can be described. Einstein showed there is no preferred frame of reference. The second is the premise that velocity of light is constant irrespective of frame of reference. These two premises lead to the fact that time is not absolute as was thought earlier and is relative to a frame of reference. So time is another dimension similar to length.
All conclusions arising out of relativity are because of the above premises. Major conclusions are, time and length dilate or contract , Mass and energy are manifestations of the same physical entity (E=mC^2) and upper limit to velocity is speed of light.
While the mathematics of arriving at these conclusions may not be simple the basic tenets are very simple and bold.
