From the above...

=>A(60-A) = 12×72

=> 60A - = 846

By factorisation

=> -60A+846 = 0

=> -24A-36A+846 = 0 ( +846 => -24 × -36)

=> A(A-24) - 36(A-24) = 0

=> (A-24)(A-36) = 0

=> A = 24 or 36

If A = 24 then the other Number is 36.... So the answer is (b)..
