The character traits of both the boys are very similar to each other. They are quite similar in portraying themselves as true gentlemen. they are very noble and disciplined in whatever they they do. They are selfless beings who do not think of themselves and rather earn money only for the treatment of their sister who is suffering from tuberculosis of spine. They are very loyal and take up all kinds of odd jobs to earn money. They act matured and take up responsibilities just like parents. They have childlike innocence and yet gravity of behavior like adults. The love they possess for their sister is noteworthy or rather praiseworthy. They are high spirited boys whose wits and level of enthusiasm remained undaunted even after the war.
