Charles Darwin is known as the Father of evolution. Reason being that he gave a theory regarding evolution that changed the entire belief people had before his theory.

Before Darwin's theory, people used to believe that this entire process of Evolution was controlled by the Gods. And that there was some supernatural processes that ultimately led to evolution.

Darwin's theory, however stated something else...

His theory was called the 'Natural Selection'. This theory stated that various species are originated from a single species as a result of adaptation to the changing environment.

In the nutshell, he wanted to convey the fact that species evolve over a period of time, as the environment changes. As per Darwin’s theory, only the superior changes are naturally selected and the inferior ones are eliminated.

In other words it was the 'Survival of the fittest'.

Hope it helps!
