a voltmeter is connected always in parallel i think u may know that very well

so u know that by ohm's law

I=V/R

so when a high resistance is connected value of current becomes negligible leading to constant current in the circuit

hope this helps

ashutosh572: but answer is given in the sense of series combination
parakhcmd: yeah to convert a galvanometer into voltmeter a high resistance is connected in series with galvanometer but voltmeter is connected in parallel that is the whole setup that is the galvanometer and the high resistance are in parallel with the main circuit
parakhcmd: i hope now you can understand
ashutosh572: yes
parakhcmd: ok
ashutosh572: thanku
parakhcmd: welcome
